This utility scale rooftop system was a complex design with the unique incorporation of a central inverter and rooftop PV. There are five main roof areas, one of which towering above the rest at ~35m in height, and due to the nature of the business majority of the rooftops contained many obstacles that requried avoidance.
Sub-array cables were to reitcualte along multiple rooftops, down buildings walls and into a trench that would ultimately open up underneath the central inverter. Through a detailed analysis using in house tools and proprietary software, the sub-array cable sizes running from optimised combiner box locations on the roof to the central inverter were kept at a minimum.
10 MWh of batteries were also connected to the hybrid central inverter, with the engineering completed by the competent team at Mindaro. Four shipping container sizes batteries were strategically placed in a tight area adjacent to the central inverter that allowed for simplified trenching and no interruptions with existing underground services.
The connection of 4MW PV and 10MWh of BESS into a 4.95MVA central inverter was an enjoyable project for our team with plenty of learnings along the way. Our client was left with nothing but praise.
Mindaro worked to tight deadlines and a stringent Owner's Engineer to deliver For Construction drawings for PV array's on 95 KFC rooftops. The key to delivering this rollout was to adapt our product in order to meet the clients needs whilst also allowing for streamlined engineering and project submission.
The rooftops of SME's are never easy, especially those with an abundance of HVAC on a small footprint that also incorporate many verandah's/awnings. Mindaro's ability to analyse and interpret the information from the site inspections as well as the structural certificates allowed for accurate and concise drawings for the installers to follow.

The site at Southgate Plaza had an existing rooftop PV array and wished to utilise this generated energy more efficiently with the installation of batteries. This project involved complex engineering from the team at Mindaro due to the requirement of a new distribution board that would intercept the main supply to the shopping centre.
Mindaro performed both protection coordination and shirt circuit studies to ensure that the new board would not interrupt the supply to the site, whilst also housing the supply for the new battery system.
Coordination with structural and civil engineers, as well as OEMs was required to ensure all of the desired equipment fit safely within the allowable footprint on site. This involved detailed trench reticulation and relied on Mindaro's thorough cable analysis in order to keep civil works to a minimum whilst doing the same with the cable sizes.
