Portfolio

This utility scale rooftop system was a complex design with the unique incorporation of a central inverter and rooftop PV. There are five main roof areas, one of which towering above the rest at ~35m in height, and due to the nature of the business majority of the rooftops contained many obstacles that requried avoidance.

Sub-array cables were to reitcualte along multiple rooftops, down buildings walls and into a trench that would ultimately open up underneath the central inverter. Through a detailed analysis using in house tools and proprietary software, the sub-array cable sizes running from optimised combiner box locations on the roof to the central inverter were kept at a minimum.

10 MWh of batteries were also connected to the hybrid central inverter, with the engineering completed by the competent team at Mindaro. Four shipping container sizes batteries were strategically placed in a tight area adjacent to the central inverter that allowed for simplified trenching and no interruptions with existing underground services.

The connection of 4MW PV and 10MWh of BESS into a 4.95MVA central inverter was an enjoyable project for our team with plenty of learnings along the way. Our client was left with nothing but praise.

Huntingwood (4.01 MW PV/10 MWh BESS/4.95 MVA Inverter)

Mindaro worked to tight deadlines and a stringent Owner's Engineer to deliver For Construction drawings for PV array's on 95 KFC rooftops. The key to delivering this rollout was to adapt our product in order to meet the clients needs whilst also allowing for streamlined engineering and project submission. 

The rooftops of SME's are never easy, especially those with an abundance of HVAC on a small footprint that also incorporate many verandah's/awnings. Mindaro's ability to analyse and interpret the information from the site inspections as well as the structural certificates allowed for accurate and concise drawings for the installers to follow.

KFC (Rollout of <30 kW SME rooftop systems)

The site at Southgate Plaza had an existing rooftop PV array and wished to utilise this generated energy more efficiently with the installation of batteries. This project involved complex engineering from the team at Mindaro due to the requirement of a new distribution board that would intercept the main supply to the shopping centre. 

Mindaro performed both protection coordination and shirt circuit studies to ensure that the new board would not interrupt the supply to the site, whilst also housing the supply for the new battery system. 

Coordination with structural and civil engineers, as well as OEMs was required to ensure all of the desired equipment fit safely within the allowable footprint on site. This involved detailed trench reticulation and relied on Mindaro's thorough cable analysis in order to keep civil works to a minimum whilst doing the same with the cable sizes.

Our standard scope of works for a project includes a site plan, string layout, DC schematics and AC single line diagrams. Our calculations for the DC, AC and earth cables will also be provided.

Our scope doesn't have to stop there. If you are after detailed inverter station elevations, combiner box design or a PV racking plan based on a structural certificate, we can take care of those too. The information we include is there to assist your installers when they need guidance on site.

BESS Design

The electric vehicle (EV) revolution is upon us and EV charging stations will need to be installed at a rapid rate in order to meet the sudden influx of load as a result.

Mindaro spent the beginning of 2023 developing an EV product that allows customers and EPCs to engage our engineering team for EV charger optimisation based on existing electrical infrastructure and the customers needs.

Our service starts from as simple as engineering a solution for the installation of an EV charging station, and extends to the initial analysis of the type of site (apartment block, shopping centre etc.) and recommendations of type and number of chargers, the connection philosophy and any suggested upgrades to existing infrastructure that is summarised in a report for the end client.

EV chargers are not as simple as plug and play. There is detailed analysis involved based on the current and forecasted energy usage on site as well as the current supply details from the network, such as consumer mains cable size and the capacity of the transformer.

Julian is a skilled and dynamic professional with a background in commercial solar project management. With exceptional organizational and communication abilities developed over three years at GSES and later as the General Manager at Mindaro, Julian's strengths have contributed to the successful delivery of 25 MW of projects. Notable achievements include overseeing complex projects such as a 490 kW rooftop system for an industrial bakery, a 315 kW curved rooftop system, a 1.4 MW ground mount system for chicken farms, and a pioneering 290 kW integrated rooftop and ground mount system. Brandon Cook

Nathan is a dedicated professional who joined GSES in 2019 and has made substantial contributions to the successful execution of 30MW solar PV and BESS projects. Drawing on his extensive experience from a prominent Australian EPC, Nathan prioritizes precision, efficiency, and speed in engineering. His achievements include overseeing a notable 7 MW multi-site PV rollout with roles in principal engineering and client liaison, leading a 10 MW multi-site PV rollout with comprehensive designs and fault studies, achieving a pioneering 1.2 MW rooftop installation, excelling in a groundbreaking 2.1 MW rooftop project, and meticulously designing a 1 MW ground-mount PV rollout. Nathan Tam

Malik is an accomplished Electrical Engineer with three years of project experience in the renewable energy sector. As a Project Engineer at a leady Australian EPC, he has delivered over $12 million in energy efficiency projects and cultivated enduring relationships with Tier 1 builders, resulting in a $14 million project pipeline. Muhammad Ammar Malik

Matt is a sophisticated engineer who joined Mindaro in January 2024 after three years of experience in the commercial PV industry. His background in managing PV systems ranging from 100 kW through to 1 MW has made him a powerhouse in producing compliant and constructable engineering designs.
